Commissioned Statement Ring
This is the first time I have used this space on my website. I plan on using this blog space to tell the stories behind each of the jewellery pieces I make.
This piece started when I was presented with an collection of inherited jewellery that included a range of material and stones. I was asked to create a modern statement ring that she could wear on her wedding finger. The piece needed to combine each of the diamonds and include a mix of yellow and white gold into the one ring.
Each of the diamonds varied in size, so the challenge was to design a ring that was asymmetrical in style and included all of the stones. I was able to present several design illustrations to choose from. The above image was the chosen design which I then developed into a three dimensional prototype.
The final piece makes a strong statement in line with the original brief. I always enjoy the challenge of a client’s specific brief and design preferences. I look to find ways to combine their style with my own design influences. As a result of this process, I have created a one-off piece that carries the long and meaningful history of the jewels that were inherited.
